Air conditioning repairs

Fault-finding and repairs for units that are leaking, noisy or not cooling. Priced before we book, with a written report after.

  • Visit price agreed before we book
  • Written report after every visit
  • F-gas records updated where required

What does an air conditioning repair involve?

Air conditioning repair is diagnosing and fixing a fault in a cooling system — for example a refrigerant leak, a failed compressor, fan motor, sensor or circuit board, a blocked condensate drain or a controls problem. A repair visit starts with fault-finding, then a quote for the parts and labour needed.

Typical prices in the UK run from £145 to £295 per repair visit before VAT; a typical job (diagnostic visit, first hour) is usually £145–£295 plus VAT.

Air conditioning usually tells you something is wrong before it stops: it blows warm air, drips water, shows an error code, trips the electrics or makes a new noise. Catching the fault early is cheaper — a blocked drain or failed sensor is a small job; a compressor that has been run short of refrigerant is not.

Engineers carry common parts and diagnostic equipment. We explain the fault, give you a price and only carry out the repair once you approve it. If a system is old and failing repeatedly, we will tell you honestly whether repair or replacement makes more sense.

Where it suits

  • Units not cooling or heating
  • Water leaking from indoor units
  • Error codes and tripping
  • Noisy or vibrating units
  • Ice on pipework or coils
  • Systems that keep failing

What is included

  • Fault-finding with diagnostic equipment
  • Error code diagnosis for most commercial makes
  • Refrigerant leak location and repair
  • Replacement of fans, sensors, boards, pumps and valves
  • Re-gassing with recorded refrigerant quantities
  • Written report and F-gas record update

How a visit is carried out

  1. Tell us the symptoms

Make, model, error code and what the unit is doing helps us bring the right parts.

  2. Diagnose

The engineer finds the cause and explains it.

  3. Quote

You get a price for the repair before any work goes ahead.

  4. Repair and test

The fault is fixed, the system tested and the records updated.

Things to plan for

Switch it off

If water is coming through a ceiling or the unit is tripping, switch it off at the isolator until it is checked.

Refrigerant leaks

Topping up without finding the leak is a false economy and, for systems above the threshold, a breach of F-gas leak repair duties.

Old refrigerant

Systems still on R22 cannot legally be topped up with virgin or recycled R22. Repairs on these are limited — replacement is often the realistic option.

Repeat failures

If a system has failed several times, we compare the cost of repair against replacement.

Questions about AC repairs

How quickly can you come out?

Tell us how urgent it is when you contact us and we will give you the earliest visit we can, with the price agreed before we come.

Why is my air conditioning blowing warm air?

Common causes are blocked filters, a dirty outdoor coil, a refrigerant leak, a failed fan or a controls fault. A diagnostic visit finds the cause.

Why is water leaking from my unit?

Usually a blocked condensate drain or a failed condensate pump. Switch the unit off to avoid ceiling damage and book a repair.

Can you just re-gas it?

Re-gassing without finding and fixing the leak only delays the problem. We locate and repair the leak, then charge the system and record the quantity.

Is it worth repairing an old system?

If it uses R22, has repeated faults or needs a compressor, replacement is often better value. We give you both options.

What happens next

  1. Tell us what you need

Use the form, the quote tool, live chat or call us. A postcode and the type of premises is enough to start.

  2. Survey or visit

For mainland installations we survey free of charge. Service and repair visits, and travel to remote locations, are priced before we book.

  3. Written quote

You get the specification, the price and the programme in writing, including any landlord or planning points.

  4. Work and handover

We install, service or repair around your hours, then hand over the commissioning and F-gas records.
