Commercial air conditioning, planned around how your building is used

What is commercial air conditioning?

Commercial air conditioning is cooling and heating designed for business premises — offices, shops, restaurants, gyms, surgeries and technical rooms — sized to the real heat from people, equipment, lighting and sunshine. Most systems are heat pumps, so the same equipment heats in winter and cools in summer.

We design, install and look after systems for businesses across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, with remote and island locations by arrangement: wall-mounted splits for a single room, ceiling cassettes and ducted units for open spaces, VRF for whole floors, and dedicated cooling for server rooms. Every installation starts with a survey and a written specification, so you know the unit sizes, positions, refrigerant and price before anything is fitted.

Once it is in, we keep it running: planned maintenance, repairs, deep cleaning and the F-gas leak checks and TM44 energy inspections the law requires for larger systems.

Sized to your heat load

We calculate cooling for each zone from occupancy, IT, glazing and orientation, not just floor area.

Installed around your hours

Noisy or messy work is scheduled for quiet periods, early starts or out of hours.

Compliance handled

F-gas records, leak checks and TM44 inspections, with paperwork you can show an inspector.

One contact for install and aftercare

One point of contact from survey to aftercare, with one set of records for every system.

Services and guide prices

Every service below has a page with what is included, how the work is done and guide prices. Prices are national guide ranges, excluding VAT, and are confirmed in writing after a survey or before a visit.

Sectors we work in

Each type of premises has its own challenges — kitchen heat, open doors, 24/7 comms rooms, quiet bedrooms. These pages explain what usually works.

Get a guide price in about a minute

Tell the quote tool what you need, the type and size of your premises and your postcode. It estimates the cooling load, suggests a system and shows a guide price using the same figures as our price tables. Send it to us and we will confirm it with a survey (free for mainland installations).

The two rules most businesses need to know

F-gas leak checks

If an air conditioning system holds refrigerant equal to 5 tonnes of CO2 or more, the business that controls it must have it leak-checked by a certified engineer at least every 12 months — every 6 months from 50 tonnes — and keep records for five years. For R410A that threshold is reached at about 2.4 kg of refrigerant; for R32, about 7.4 kg. More on F-gas leak checks.

TM44 energy inspections

If the air conditioning you control in a building adds up to more than 12 kW, it needs an energy inspection by an accredited assessor — at least every five years in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, with a £300 penalty for not having a valid report. Scotland has its own equivalent. More on TM44 inspections.

What happens after you get in touch

  1. Tell us what you need

Use the form, the quote tool, live chat or call us. A postcode and the type of premises is enough to start.

  2. Survey or visit

For mainland installations we survey free of charge. Service and repair visits, and travel to remote locations, are priced before we book.

  3. Written quote

You get the specification, the price and the programme in writing, including any landlord or planning points.

  4. Work and handover

We install, service or repair around your hours, then hand over the commissioning and F-gas records.

Common questions

How much does commercial air conditioning cost?

A single wall-mounted split typically costs £1,450–£2,950 plus VAT installed, a ceiling cassette £2,150–£4,950 per unit, and a VRF system £2,450–£4,950 per indoor unit. A small shop or office with two to four indoor units typically comes to £4,950–£16,500 plus VAT.

Is the survey free?

Yes, for new installations and replacements on the UK mainland. Remote and island locations carry a travel charge, quoted in writing first. Service, repair and inspection visits are priced before we book them.

Can you install while we stay open?

Usually. Noisy or messy work is planned for quiet periods, early starts, evenings or weekends, and work areas are screened and kept clean.

Does air conditioning heat as well as cool?

Almost all modern commercial systems are heat pumps, so the same units can heat in winter and cool in summer.

Do our systems need F-gas leak checks?

If a system holds 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent of refrigerant or more — about 2.4 kg of R410A or 7.4 kg of R32 — it needs leak checks at least every 12 months, with records kept for five years.

Do you cover the whole UK?

Yes. We work across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Remote island and Highland locations are covered by arrangement, with travel agreed before any visit.
