What does an air conditioning service involve?

Air conditioning servicing is a routine maintenance visit in which an engineer cleans filters and coils, checks drainage, electrical connections and controls, measures operating pressures and temperatures, and records the results. Regular servicing keeps systems efficient, reduces breakdowns and is usually a condition of manufacturer warranties.

Typical prices in the UK run from £175 to £245 per visit, first indoor unit before VAT; a typical job (service visit for a small system, 1–2 indoor units) is usually £175–£390 plus VAT.

A neglected air conditioning unit works harder, costs more to run and fails more often. Blocked filters and dirty coils reduce air flow; a blocked condensate line can leak through a ceiling; and a slow refrigerant leak goes unnoticed until the system stops cooling on the hottest day.

Our service visits follow a written checklist for each unit, with readings recorded so you can see how the system is performing over time. If we find a fault we explain it and quote before doing any extra work.

Things to plan for

Frequency

Most commercial systems should be serviced at least once a year; busy kitchens, gyms, salons and server rooms usually need two or more visits.

Warranty

Manufacturer warranties often require servicing at set intervals by a competent engineer. Keep the reports.

F-gas

Where a system is above the 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent threshold, the service visit can include the mandatory leak check.

Access

High-level units or roof plant may need towers or roof access arrangements, which we plan in advance.

Questions about AC servicing

How often should commercial air conditioning be serviced?

At least once a year, and every three to six months for systems in kitchens, gyms, salons, dusty environments or server rooms that run 24/7.

How much does an air conditioning service cost?

A service visit typically costs £175–£245 plus VAT for the first indoor unit, with additional indoor units around £85–£145 each on the same visit, so a two-unit system is usually £175–£390.

Is a service the same as an F-gas leak check?

No, but they are often done together. A leak check is a legal requirement for systems above certain refrigerant thresholds; a service is broader maintenance.

Do you service systems you did not install?

Yes. We service most commercial makes and models. Tell us the make and model if you know them.

What happens if you find a fault?

We explain it, give you a price and only go ahead once you approve it.

What happens next

  1. Tell us what you need

Use the form, the quote tool, live chat or call us. A postcode and the type of premises is enough to start.

  2. Survey or visit

For mainland installations we survey free of charge. Service and repair visits, and travel to remote locations, are priced before we book.

  3. Written quote

You get the specification, the price and the programme in writing, including any landlord or planning points.

  4. Work and handover

We install, service or repair around your hours, then hand over the commissioning and F-gas records.
